Mrs. Lisa Smith
6th Grade ELA / 6th-7th Religion
Lisa Smith grew up in Lisle, IL and moved to Joliet in 1991. After she received her B.A. in Literature and Communications from Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University), she taught high school English and then became a corporate trainer for several years. Her Diocesan teaching career began in 1998 when she found her way to St. Mary Immaculate in Plainfield, teaching middle school ELA and religion. After earning her M.S. Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis, she became principal of St. Dennis (Lockport) in 2006 and remained there until 2023.
She is thrilled to continue her journey as a Catholic educator at St. Raymond’s. She enjoys inspiring students to become better readers and writers, and sharing in their faith journeys. She and her husband moved to Yorkville a few years back, so when she is not at school, she can be found in her garden or enjoying time with friends and family. She has three energetic grandsons, and a cuddly dog named Ozzie, all of whom are the center of her life.
